In June 2017, Singapore’s largest group of healthcare institutions, Singhealth suffered a data breach believed to be the worst in the country’s history.
A Committee of Inquiry (COI) was formed to investigate the cyberattack and establish contributing factors that lead to the incident. After 22 days of hearings, the COI published a report covering evidence, findings, characteristics of the attack and 16 recommendations. The recommendations aim to establish a culture of security, improve the security of healthcare systems and enhance incident response processes.
